Wanda von Bremen is an environmental photographer and artist working at the intersection of science and visual storytelling. Holding a BSc in Nature Conservation, an MA in Ecology Futures from St. Joost School of Art & Design, and a diploma from the International Center of Photography, her work is driven by a deep fascination with algae and kelp — organisms she believes hold some of the most underrepresented stories in our ecological future.

Through her lens, she captures the beauty, complexity, and potential of algal ecosystems, translating what lives beneath the surface into images that resonate above it. She collaborates with environmental organisations to bring algae into wider public consciousness — making the invisible visible, and the overlooked impossible to ignore. Her long-term project on kelp forests is an ongoing investigation about the relationship we have with kelp. 

Von Bremen has exhibited internationally at the UN Headquarters in New York, the ICP Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Panama City, Ars Electronica, and the Zingst Nature Photography Festival, among others. She is the 2024 New European Bauhaus Prize winner.
