Ten after years the first YAS (2012), the 6th sixth edition of the Young Algaeneers Symposium took place in a virtual mode from 13 to 15 June, 2022, with the support of European Algae Biomass Association (EABA).
80 participants from 18 different countries discussed together the main future challenges for the algae sector (both microalgae and seaweed) and how the young algaeneers generation can tackle them. As traditionally, participants were divided in working groups according to their preference, discussing Algae food, Biorefinary, Synthetic biology, Algae standardisation, Strains selection, Life Cycle Analysis. The groups were mentored by senior researchers expert in the topic.
In this edition, the attendees had testimonials from CEO’s of algae-based companies and 2 virtual lab tours at Synoxis Algae and Scottish Association for Marine Science. Participants shared their research with a Poster presentation, and the best poster voted was awarded with a package of algae products offered by YourWell Seaweed Company.
