The Basque Microalgae Culture Collection (BMCC) maintains over 700 strains of marine and freshwater microalgae and cyanobacteria, mostly from the Basque Country.

The BMCC was officially registered in 2020 in the World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) and is part of the Spanish Network of Microorganisms (REDESMI) and of the European Culture Collections Organization (ECCO). The surveys about haptophytes are the beginning of the collection (Seoane et al. 2009). Later, strains of the rest of phytoplankton groups have been added, mainly cryptophytes, dinoflagellates, chlorophytes, diatoms and cyanobacteria.

Their collection is growing monthly, check in their catalogue or contact them in order to find a strain.

Marina, a Wageningen-based artist from Greece, loves making joyful illustrations that are all about spreading smiles and good vibes.

She created Painted by Marina because of her love of cute stationary (like stickers, cards and notepads) and in hopes of creating her version of these products. Her goal is to create a series of colourful and inspiring goodies that brighten your mood and are great gifts for people you love. She makes everything by hand in her home studio.

While animal paintings are kind of her thing—they’re bright, happy, and sometimes a little funny - she has created a series of algae-paintings for YAS! You can get them as stickers during the conference and she is sponsoring mugs with her artwork as well!
